FORGET THE VIAGRA ... PASS ME A CARROT!

So, you are asking why is the title of the book "Forget the Viagra ... Pass Me a Carrot!"

One of the biggest dangers is that many of the men who feel the need to use Viagra are also in the same group who should NOT take the drug because of pre-existing medical conditions.

Over the last 17 years I have witnessed the transition from occasional and essential medication to a pill for every ailment or condition you can think of.

Viagra just summed up my reaction to this worrying trend of taking a 'quick fix' pill instead of looking at the causes of a problem and doing something constructive to resolve it.

Some disturbing statistics: From the NHS website on Cardiovascular disease

• Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death both in the UK and worldwide.

• In the UK over 1.6 million men and women are affected by Chronic Heart Disease.

• It is responsible for more than 88,000 deaths in the UK each Year, or 224 people each day, which is one person dead every 6 minutes.

• Most deaths from heart disease are caused by heart attacks – around 124,000 yearly.

• There are also 152,000 strokes each year in the UK resulting in 43,000 deaths.

Taking Viagra or any of the substitute sexual enhancement drugs can be very dangerous if you suffer from any form of cardiovascular disease.

A few things to think about.

The leading cause of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and liver failure are lifestyle. In other words, smoking, eating junk, and drinking too much. They are silent killers, many people do not know they have a problem until they suffer a major medical emergency.

You cannot watch or listen to the daily news not to be aware that the National Health Service is in overwhelm and that it is mis-named. It should be the National Disease Service since is becoming increasingly re-active rather than pro-active.

An example of this is the recent suggestion that everyone over 50 years old should be prescribed Statins to prevent future cardiovascular and Alzheimer's disease.

This indicates to me that the NHS has given up on getting people to change their lifestyles and have opted for the 'quick fix' too.

So who should be responsible for your body and its health?

Actually, it is with you!

I cannot tell you how many times I have heard the following statement from clients or those calling into a radio programme.

"It's my body and I can eat and drink what I like."

or

"I don't believe in all this diet nonsense."

Well that is all very well, but if you choose to smoke, drink excessively and have a lousy diet of processed and fast food, someone, one day, will have to pick up the pieces because you have developed cardiovascular disease, diabetes or liver failure!

That 'someone' is our currently overwhelmed health service where treatment will involve medication for life or an operation to try and patch up your internal organs and arteries so that they can function for a few more years.

Is this book for you?

Is the book about your sex life? Yes it is. Because if you are suffering from Cardiovascular Disease including High Blood Pressure or Diabetes and Liver disease, they will affect your sexual performance. Certainly, it would be dangerous to take sexual enhancement drugs such as Viagra without consulting your doctor, but some of the side effects of prescription drugs for the treatment of your disease will also affect your performance.

This book is a workshop manual for your body that enables you to go beneath your skin and illustrates where your major organs are to be found, how they function and what they require to keep you healthy and firing on all cylinders.

This book is for you if you want the following:

• To take responsibility for your body and your health and not end up on pills for life.

• To work with your GP to become fit enough to no longer require medication you are already being prescribed.

• To understand how your major organs work together to keep you alive and some of the symptoms you need to know that might indicate that they are not performing as they need to.

• To be informed about the more common health issues that could occur so that you can communicate better with your doctor and understand your role in preventing future more serious diseases and probably a reliance on prescription drugs.

• To learn about the wonderful foods that are available that provide you with the correct nutritional fuel mix for energy, youthful body and brain.

• Discover how to put these foods together into an unprocessed, delicious and easy to prepare eating plan that provides you with what you need each day.

• Design your own exercise programme that works within your particular requirements.

• Take responsibility not just for your sex life, but your whole lifestyle and health.

Also ...

If there is to be health service in the future we all need to be proactive now and take responsibility for our own health and fitness. If we do not make radical changes to our lifestyles in this decade there may not be a service to pick up the pieces in the next.

Do not become a statistic. Take action and start today with a new perspective on your body and what it needs to be healthy.

If you have not recently been examined by a doctor and are considering buying any sexual medication over the Internet – think again and go and get checked out first.

Your body is your greatest asset,

if you abuse it you lose it.

This book is not just about your sex life.

It is about your life.
